New Nortom Patch messed up my desktop

I just had a new patch and as it installed my desktop iocons become VERY big. Nothing I have done has sorted it, the disply settings are all right and I have no idea what to do now.

Have you rebooted?

Hi,

I received the patch too and my desktop icons look normal. (W7 x64).

No problems here.

I had no problem with the patch except a second icon in the systray,But that got fixed from another thread posted by another member here that had a norton link to fix it

No advice from Symantec yet, but I'm guessing it may be for the next version of Firefox aka 27. Or maybe not.

Norton usually put out a patch a day or two beforehand.

I received it today, and after hitting Apply Now, all is normal.

As yank suggested, a reboot may fix things.

Did you by any chance download/install an Nvidia Geoforce graphics driver update (one was released today)?  I applied the Norton patch first, and later got a message the Nvidia update was ready.  After I downloaded/installed the Nvidia update, my desktop went crazy.  Icons became large, and scattered all over the desktop.  Everything disappeared from the system tray.  Did a restart and everything was back to normal.

Kelly

Sorry not replying befor but in UK. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon and rebooted more than once! After trying every display/desktop setting and finding nothing that helped I found, on line, to click on desktop, hold Ctrl and use the mouse wheel to change icon sizing. It worked but now I have to sort them out as they are all over the place!

Whatever it was happened a the patch was applied, the icons suddenly enlarged and stayed like it when the patch was finished.

Slightly different problem. I always have trouble after a patch is applied with missing systray icons. Previously I was told by someone here with a bigger post count that I should contact the application's publisher. Yeah right, some software manufacturer is going to listen to me when I say their systray icons are not re-appearing after Norton applies a patch.

I didn't have any difficulty with the patch other than what was stated above. But I came to the forum looking to see if there was a post about the patch.

As for Firefox yeah that's not due until Feb. 4th so that's not what the patch was about.

As for the icon issue you could try this (may not work) Open File Explorer, Click View, Click Options, Click View tab, Folder Views and click Reset Folders. You may have to click Apply and OK after. That should restore all icons to default size. You can also try Apply to Folders (if not grayed out) to change the icon size across your whole computer.

The patch was to fix some back end issues, as per this announcement from Mohan_G
