Recently, I got the new UI and version upgrade. Finally, Norton added some useful features for Mac users. But it’s still missing so many new features from Windows version. Please add more features to Mac version. The new UI looks much intuitive and organized too.
When I upgraded to the new version (24.9.2) I actually had core functionality removed that was present in previous versions. One significant example was in discovering that the Scheduling Functionality for Live Update has been removed. You are no longer able to schedule regular, periodic virus definition file updates on a schedule of your choosing. From my perspective this significantly increases device vulnerability, for example in not having current solutions for recently released “Zero-Day” viruses and malware. It also prevents me from scheduling updates during off-hours for all my devices. The scheduling functionality was maintained for setting up Scans, but “Live” Updates are now “Manually-Triggered, Customer-Initiated Updates”. I spent over an hour on the phone with Tier 1 Customer Support today verifying this issue and searching throughout the new UI, but neither of us (nor their supervisor) could find a method to configure Live Updates. And - another issue is that they were not able to restore my previous version of Nortons so that I could maintain my regular updates while they were working on a solution. Apparently, even if the previous version was able to be installed, it would also automatically “upgrade” to the newest version without the functionality at a later date/time. If anyone has discovered a work-a-round to this please feel free to respond back to me. Obviously, I don’t know what I don’t know here, so any direction or guidance would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! Enjoy the rest of your week, guys!
@David_Wright If you’d still like to get on the previous version please follow this guide from my previous post. Note: Disable automatic update the instant the reverted version is installed. Use intelligent updater to keep definitions up to date and, DO NOT manually run live updates or smart scan for any reason. Edited: This is for Windows not MAC. Use the MAC removal tool instead.
