Norton LiveUpdates automatically pushed to your device are streaming updates.

The automatic signature creation is a patented Avast process called Evo-Gen (others have a form of that too).
Avast data scientists have developed ways to extract few bytes of similarity from a large, unorganized pile of mess (malware). Using machine learning and behavioural detection, signature is created in a matter of minutes, tested for false positives and delivered as a streaming update. here

that they were not able to restore my previous version of Nortons so that I could maintain my regular updates while they were working on a solution. Apparently, even if the previous version was able to be installed, it would also automatically “upgrade” to the newest version without the functionality at a later date/time. If anyone has discovered a work-a-round to this please feel free to respond back to me.
