Trying to find a solution for a TV tuner software now that Windows 10 has dropped mediacenter. Went to download NextPVR and Norton gave a security warning on the device. Does anybody know if NextPVR is really a security concern, or if there is a better Windows Media center replacement?
NextPVR is a... video recorder application for Microsoft Windows, making it easy to watch or record live tv (TV)
2. Personally, the install process might be another problem: it's been set to change Windows Firewall settings automatically.
3. The offcial setup file NPVRSetup_3_4_8.exe (SH256, 5e7577b6b8c6dfa2582dab064c3903b7f0cd7987ef0e0e6e0fe0a0e6d28c7405) has also been detected as RISKWARE, according to the VirusTotal report above. U had better also avoid other risky options such as this Rich Media Player in the internet. Just make the best of the said VirusTotal web site so you can effectively prevent badware from landing on your computer.
Traditional fingerprinting of a virus requires the security vendor to obtain a specimen of each threat before they can provide protection. Symantec's reputation-based security takes a totally different approach. It doesn't just focus on bad files, but attempts to accurately classify all software files, both good and bad, based on countless anonymous telemetry "pings" sent to Symantec every second of every day from around the world. These near real-time pings tell Symantec about:
The applications being deployed on our customer's machines (each application is uniquely identified by its SHA2 hash).
Where applications came from on the web.
Whether or not the applications are digitally signed.
How old the applications are.
A host of other attributes.
We add to this data from our Global Intelligence Network, our Security Response organization, and legitimate software vendors who provide application instances to Symantec.
Is there any way to find out what the issues are that caused NextPVR to be flagged? I don't know if I can trust it. I think so, but I'd like to know why Norton has made this decision
Note: don't know if this is your item, you'll know by >> from Norton toaster > More Details > Copy to Clipboard > paste [and/or] from Norton Quarantine > More Options > Copy to Clipboard > paste
