I've seen some other posts regarding the NIS nag that begins to "remind" users that their software subscription has less than 30 days left before it expires. The way that Symantec has implemented this is NIS 2008 is extremely irritating to users. I saw the response from a Symantec employee that states that the nag is for the user's "protection". Well that may be true, but why in god's name has Symantec chosen to punish their customers with a message that never quits.
What I find most irritating is that the nag pops up every 5 to 10 minutes and will continue to do so until I either give in and renew my subscription or if I can tough it out past the renewal date at which point I think it will stop its perpetual nag.
In previous editions of NIS users could specify the time interval between reminders. A nag once a day would be fine but NOT every few minutes.
A request to Symantec: stop being so paternalistic and give your customers a break with these obtrusive and frequent nags. If your product is good enough (which it is) customers will WANT to renew without being browbeaten into it.
