Hi Carol,

Why do you have to use Firefox with your server?

Try this link to the Symantec Store. It is supposed to work with Firefox and Opera.

Hi, Phil!

When I went over to DSL, IE would not work with it, so I had to install Firefox.

Still not sure why!

The DSL is through a local internet service, not a well-known one. (Softcom Internet)

I do like Firefox...but it is unacceptable for so many applications!

I have never had any trouble using Firefox with any other program or site.

Carol,

Let me know how that link to the Symantec Store worked.

And here may be a work around for other websites that only work in IE. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see an IE add-in for Firefox.   I can't vouch for the info as I have not tried it.

Phil, The link worked fine. I got to the download manager again, and all it does is try to download, and then stops and says

"Communications error".

Thanks also for the other link! I have tried it before, and for some reason have all kinds of trouble getting the active x add-ons

to work for me.

LOL--I should probably give up!

Carol,

Nope - don't give up.

1) Check to make sure your Windows Firewall is not enabled.

2) Here's an alternative, can you get to a friend's computer and download NIS 2009 to a flash drive or burn to a CD?

Then you could install it on your computer.  Just a thought.

I did check the firewall and disabled it.

NO dice.

Now the other idea about using someone else's pc to download it....

THAT is a great idea !

I'm going to try it and let you know what happens.

Dont use your download manager. use only the Firefox downloader.

Just thought I'd let you all know that I tried to download to my sister's pc, but it wanted to install, so I didn't.

I finally somehow ended up getting IE to work, got into a chat session and they remotely installed it for me!

I have to say that the team at Symantec is great.

Thanks so much for all the help and advice, I appreciate it!!

Carol

Carol,

Very glad to hear that you met with success!

Best Wishes.
