I have Win XP Home Ed, I previously had NIS 2008 installed and worked fine. My subscriptions ran out a few days ago so lastnight I thought I would purchase, download and install NIS 2009.
I was able to purchase it and to download it but not install it. It keeps failing to install when it reaches "Install Network Drivers". I got on the Symantec help chat and spoke to the analysts. They suggested running NRT and trying again. I did this several times and still failed. One of the analysts took over control and tried several things but the same result. He then decided that it was best to reinstall NIS 2008, as this had been on the system earlier. He downloaded me the install file and tried to install it. This itself then kept failing to install on " Installing Symantec Network Drivers".
He was still unable to do anything to get it working so passed me through to a supervisor analyst. He took control too and tried all he knew of to get NIS 2008 to install but the same error keeps occurring time and time again. They did both say that the error for NIS 2009 had been experienced by a few customers and they were trying to fix it. However neither is now sure why I cannot install NIS 2008 again.
I am waiting to get back to the supervisor analyst soon and was just wondering if anyone else here in the community had experienced the same or similiar problems.
