NIS 2009 wont boot

HAN, I’d recommend turning of SuperantispywarePro’s real-time scanner completely. Having multiple real-time scanners is known to cause problems similar to those that you are experiencing. It all has to do with timing so one machine may not have any issues, other machines may have consistently reproducable issues and others may have intermittent issues.

OK, I tried again...

Enabled bootlogging and tried to restart with NIS2009 installed, the machine hung as before, rebooted into safe mode, and now I have a bootlog file that I can't make heads or tails out of.

Would it be of any use to someone at Symantec that might be able to help me out?

ResEdit, I have sent you additional instructions for uploading the logs via the community Private Messenger system, please look for the in the upper right hand corner of any community page. Please let me know when you’ve finished the upload.

I uploaded the logfile.

I think the problem has been found. See the thread called: WIN XP with NIS 2009 will not boot unless I remove ATI graphics driver in safe mode. It is caused by the ATI x800 drivers conflicting with NIS2009.

ResEdit, thanks for the log files. The boot is hanging at agp440.sys.  If you google that filename you’ll see that there seem to be numerous issues with booting this driver. Microsoft’s KB 324764 article lists steps to solve the boot problem. We are also continuing to work to discover why installing Norton Internet Security 2009 exacerbates the issue.
