In reviewing the community forums, this appears to be a well documented issue between NIS and XP SP3, but its resolution still evades me. As a new user to NIS 2010 (and this problem) I have read and re-read the forum threads. In one case the solution appears to have been resolved through 'private messenger' to the user. In another, by way of 'patches'. And then hotfixes, upgrades and new builds. Total removal of all Norton products, re-installs and multiple re-boots. All of which I have tried alone, as well as, in concert with online 'chat' support. All without success. The problem remains:
When running Xp Sp3 Pro with two user accounts (both admin privileged) only the user account on which NIS 2010 (17.7.0.12) was installed has functioning NIS 2010 desktop and system tray icons. The other user account has no system tray icon and a non-functioning desktop icon. Task mgr on the functioning user account shows two 'ccsvchst.exe' (one for the system, the other for the user), while task mgr on the non-functioning user account shows only one 'ccsvchst.exe' for the system, none for the user.If NIS 2010 is uninstalled, then re-installed via the previously non-functioning user account, it then becomes the sole NIS functioning user account. The previously functioning user account loses it's system tray icon and NIS desktop icon be comes inoperable. A resolution would be greatly appreciated. Regards.
