NIS 2010 Antispam and Outlook 2007

I have just had the NIS 2009 replaced by the help desk with NIS 2010. The original issue was that Antispam stopped moving spam ID'd emails into the Antispam folder. They were tagged but remained in the original email folder. The help desk upgraded me to the 2010 version but the problem still exists, and I now have the added problem that selecting more than one email to identify it as spam from any email folder causes Outlook to crash after I press the "This is Spam" button.

After each crash the MS Outlook fixer kicks in but can't find any problems.

As an item of note after the upgrade I was not offered the facility to train the Anti spam function in the new version, a feature that without which leaves me with a heavy requirement to ID emails as spam hence the problem of crashes is a real pain.

The PC is a Pentium Dual Core E5200 @2.5GHz, I have 4GB of RAM, the operating system is VISTA Business Service pack 2 with all updates installed, the Office is 2007 Pro with all updates installed. NIS is 17.7.0.12

Can anyone help please.

Some further notes

I have read some other comments that there is no longer an Anti Spam folder in 2010; all AntiSpam mail is posted into the Junk Email folder?

Another symptom which has revealed itself with the problem I'm having is that I can ID an email and send it to the Junk email folder with the "This is spam" button; the status of the Empty spam folder button changes in the toolbar to indicate there is content in that location and the Junk email folder shows content. The Empty spam folder button deletes all in the Junk email folder.

However when I identify an email as spam which has an attachment, it crashes outlook.

Exact same thing just started happening to me.

Hi Vineeth,

Thanks for the attempted solution,

I've been having the same issues (Vista, Outlook 2007, NIS2010 - blank email with attachment crashes outlook when I click 'this is spam') Seems to work OK with some emails with attachments.

I tried to go through the first fix, but couldn't find steps 4 or 5 in Outlook 2007

Went through the second fix - still have same problem,

I have previously contacted customer support about this problem, and was told to add the offending address manually into the blocked email addresses list - not very helpful.

For the moment I'm just deleting the emails that get through and hoping for a program fix.

Brian

Hi,

Let's try this:

1. Turn off Norton Product Tamper Protection.
2. Turn off Norton AntiSpam.
3. Remove all the rules that are automatically created.
4. Configure Norton AntiSpam.

Also please make sure that the email client is configured for Standard POP3/SMTP ports. ie: 25 and 110
