Just installed NIS 2010 on a Windows XP PC with Norton SystemWorks and NIC 2009 installed previously. First, the NIS 2010 install hung at 80%. Next, I restarted the install, but this time it hung when after it gave out a message about another Norton product having been found which was being removed. This time I rebooted the PC and again restarted the install. After the longest "less than one minute remaining" that I had ever experienced, the install again halted with a message about another Norton product being detected and removed. At this point in time, I manually removed NIS 2009 and rebooted the PC once again and restarted the install for NIS 2010. After about 15 minutes of "less than one minute remaining," I was about to give up the installation, but luckily it came back to life in time and the install was FINALLY finished successfully. NIS 2010 is now running smoothly. The whole install episode took me an hour and twenty minutes. This was quite a bit of surprise, since the previous installation of NIS 2009 on the same PC was a breeze, and also because the reviews of 2010 tend to emphasize how easy it is to install it.
I am posting this experience of mine just in case another person out there is having a hard time with the NIS 2010 installation. You are not the only one.
