The past week or so I've noticed a 'stop' symbol (circle with a slash from top right to bottom left) over the Norton Intrusion Prevention's on/off status bar. Intrusion prevention itself was showing as On the whole time on this screen and I didn't think much of it until I checked another PC using the same version, which didn't have it. After some searching I found the little switch between Monitor/Ignore.
Now I've never even heard of this function before, and further searching didn't really help in explaining either what it does or why it did it much so I am left wondering:
1) Why did it suddenly go from monitor to ignore on it's own seemingly (or more precisely what caused it to/could outside involvement/hacking cause it)
2) What does that ignore actually mean? Does it simply mean the alerts were turned off or that the intrusion prevention itself was being 'ignored' and thus the PC was vulnerable?
Should I be worried or just brush it off and carry on as normal.
Thank you in advance.
