I have recently upgraded from NIS 2010 to NIS 2011 and am delighted with the upgrade. It loads faster than 2010 and Windows Explorer works better than before. I encourage anyone operating in XP Pro to upgrade now.
Congrats to Symantec on improving on the great performance of NIS 2010.
Thank you for taking the time to give Symantec a good report and congrats to them. I'm glad you are happy with NIS 2011. Please make sure you have all the updates since you have just installed it. Thanks again.
NIS 2011 is very great. I agree. It install over NIS 2010 perfectly. My win 7 pc now boot in 54 sec. Before with NIS 2010 79 sec. Norton Insight is more efficient. I hope that NIS 2012 will follow this line.
Yup its great! I feel that my computer boots faster than with NIS 2010 but i didn't really time it... hand problems upgrading to 2011 through needed to reinstall.
NIS 2011 is indeed a further improvement over 2010 and previous versions. Each year Symantec continues to streamline things and implement creative ideas to keep our systems protected in the presence of an ever changing threat landscape, while at the same time finding ways to take less system resources!
Many Kudos to Symantec!
If anyone has not seen it, the following Protection blog describes more about the changes in 2011.

N360 comes out in the spring usually and is based on NAV/NIS engine. Some things do get passed on to N360 before the next version for them does come out. Like Sonar 3 has already been given to N360 version 4 people.

umm, what explains the 6 month lag for 360 users
Upon the release of NAV/NIS11... 360 users I know, ask me the same question.
Why do NAV/NIS users get all the new program enhancements 6 months before we do.
I try offering... Marketing cycles vary. Product cycles vary. NAV/NIS user base is larger. Symantec resources dictate product Upgrades. & Some things do get passed on before the next version. etc. etc.
Truth be told. IDK
I have quietly wondered if Symantec employs the time lag to compare Community Watch Feedback ~ analyzing the real world results for the new vs.the old program / engine / architecture.
Santa brings the nice NAV/NIS kids presents on xmas day and the naughty 360 kids have to wait for their presents.
It sure is great.Faster than ever. The several labs testing this product have said it all..It is the best suite out there.Only thing i could think of that i would like to see in the future, would be an adblocker and a vulnerability scanner that scans your programs for vulnerabilities(java,flash,air..etc) and provides you with links to update them.Reason i mention the above 2 things,is because the average user doesn't want to jump through hoops looking for 2 things. They want something that is easier for them.I have suggested secunia psi to most for vulnerability scans, but most i talk to would rather have something like it accessible from within the norton suite. Also, for adblocking,on cnet.com they can download Simple adblock which works perfectly alongside NIS2011.This product easily outperforms kaspersky, mcafee, bit defender, zone alarm.etc..boot time..file installation.etc.Having tried all of the above over the years,i can honestly say this is by far the best product i have used.I own i KIS2011 license and gave it to a friend who has an identical pc to my own and mine runs significantly faster.I have since gotten him to purchase NIS2011 and he is much happier now. Thanks Symantec.Keep up the great work!
Let me pile on this one instead of starting a new one. A couple a weeks ago I was about ready to throw in the towel on NIS, it was using more CPU than me and was killing my machine, I knew it was clean it off an relaod it time, when I figured is I am going to reload it, perhaps it might be time to try a new one.
I decided to see if Norton was current, before I backed up my system and what do you know, a free upgrade offer to 2011 was sitting there, I figured, what the heck, made my image backup and then did the upgrade.
From a performance percpective I saw the boost at boot, so far so good, had mixed views on the map, but moved on to check the settings, got it dialed in the way I like it and was off.
This feels like a rewrite, faster, smarter, less intrusive, and from what I read great protection, it did not take long for the idea of switching products to be gone, back to being a happy customer, great job on NIS 2011.
