NIS 2012 live update trouble & possible malfunction

Hello,

I have a problem with my Norton Internet Security 2012 (my current version : 19.9.1.14). OS : Win 7 64-bit Home Premium

Several weeks ago (around April 2013), the live update started to fail. The 'download updates' phase only managed to download part of the full size and got marked as failed. The same goes for 'process updates' (marked as failed too).

Running the live update again (in hope to download the remaining which failed) would only result in 'instant' failure (download and process updates phase both ended instantly in failure).
By waiting for several days (until some new different update is available), I could get some new updates again, but still get the 'partial' download failure issue (and then when I re-run the live update again, I get the 'instant failure' again).

When I look at the report, the one that always fail is Web Protection Definitions and usually some others.

Now I think that is an annoying issue but tolerable so long as I'm getting updates (other than Web Protection Definitions). But now I get stuck in the 'check for updates' for around 30 minutes! After that long wait, I get the 'instant failure' (no updates at all) and the report only mention faiure for Web Protection Definitions. What is going on?

I have read similar case of this in this forum (about 'partial' download failure). Some of them say to just restart and re-run live update again. I tried to do the restart method 2 weeks ago, but the result is still the same ('instant failure').

Even worse, now images from some websites are not being displayed. It is said that some security software can block images. that's why I suspect it have something to do with this NIS error because all changes made to my computer within last 2 weeks are just the NIS. I'm using firefox mainly, but I get no image too at the same web for IE. I tried to dissable smart firewall and auto-protect but I still get no image.

That 30-min 'check for updates' and no image on some web happened today. Any idea?
