NIS 2012 Lost interface, and boot fail after NRnR

After the last MS update a few weeks ago when the system crashed I have had problems getting the user interface to load using desktop icons, and program launch buttons. Windows explorer also would crash occasionally, and the Norton links in the right click menu in explorer were gone/empty.

I tried the NRnR program but the computer now fails to boot and goes into a continuous reboot cycle.  I have a mirror copy of the disc but don't know what to do next.  Any help gratefully received!

Hi,

I would suggest a clean installation of the OS again but before that last option try from an elevated command prompt to give the command:  sfc /scannow  (Note the space between c and / ).

It might take some time to complete but there is a small chance that Windows File Checker could fix some corrupted/missing system files.

Let us know the results.

Regards,

If you are unable to boot Windows, you may have to try Apostolos suggestion in Safe Mode.

Did you manage to get Norton Reinstalled? If so, while in Safe mode, do a full system scan.
