Can I use the Norton Internet Security 2012 product key with the 2013 version (it has not been used yet)?
At the same time, should I download the trial version of 2013 and install it with the product key of 2012?
Many Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your advice.
I did a clean install of NIS2013 and used the product key of my unused NIS2012. Do you know if there is a good link on youtube or official video guidance on how to use NIS2013 as I am quite new to it?

Good question!
I see there is a link to a video on the Forum Community front page but I don't see any list of what is available and a way to choose. I used the link to Norton on Youtube but that did not show anything at first sight.
I'll ask my colleagues since it would make sense to have an accessible library of videos ...
Meanwhile, if you have any specific questions don't hesitate to ask ..... The only stupid question is the one you don't ask ....
Thanks. I am using youtube a lot in terms of my own technical training so if a video highlighting the features of NIS became available, that would be a plus.
A colleague suggests http://www.youtube.com/user/norton/videos?view=1 so have a look and see what you can find although when I did a quick dip I think some of it is not uptodate (NAV 2012) and that was a sales pitch and not a "how to" which is more what you want.
However the Support section may be useful.
Let's see what else we can dig up after the weekend when some of the Norton Staff do take time off!
Here's another suggestion -- Download the Manuals then you can open up in a pdf reader in parallel with having Norton's GUI open. Another advantage of a pdf manual is you can search for a word or phrase ....
http://us.norton.com/support/cs/selectproduct_manuals.jsp
The most popular listed on the list are supplemented by selecting in the drop list on the right eg if you want a 2013 version.
Hope that helps.
Thanks. I think the videos are best as they are directed to people who are not so technically minded and learn visually. I also found that even technically minded people don't always have the time to delve into manuals, but a video can often do the trick!
I used NIS 2012 and before my subscription expired I got NIS 2013 on sale, and have the following problem.
Have tried Norton chat and telephone call. Bought NIS 2013 at Staples Canada in Jan 2013, Try to activate get message 'subscription refunded, product key no longer valid." DAAHH, I just bought it!!! NIV v#1027392, Box#21256513-215087.

Are you located in Canada or was this a cross border transaction?
Could you tell us what Norton CHAT told you ... what the phone call told you? Then we can ask someone on the Norton Staff here to help sort it out for you.
There is a known situation where the 2013 keys which should be backwards compatible are not in some cases but when this happens Norton OnLine Support are supposed to issue you with a key that is backwards compatible.
Please let us know some more background.
If you did not get through to CHAT here's the link I give:
To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there. This should not take you to Nathan, a robot, but to a live human being!
Please let us know how you get on ....
i have also recently purchased NIS 2013 but had 3 days remaining on NIS 2012, when i tried to install my newer version it keeps missing out all vowels in the product key as i try to activate it, i have tried uninstalling the older version first but nothing solves this issue, any advice would be most grateful.....

That might be its way of demonstrating the problem with backwards compatibility that some are experiencing so I'd suggest the Norton OnLine CHAT route using your computer keyboard as below:
