I have a printer on my main pc, and another pc connects via wifi through the router.
I was using NIS 2011 and the wireless pc was always able to print to my printer.
After upgrading both machines to 2012 the wireless pc can't print anymore.
The print que just sits waiting.
When I look at the network from the wireless pc I can see the the main pc, and then clicking on the icon it shows printers, however clcking on printers shows an empty folder.
If I try to add a printer from the wireless pc it does not find any network printers.
I am stumped. Now it could be coincidence, but I haven't made any pc changes since the NIS upgrade.
Any thoughts on this much appreciated.
Thanks
Hello Greystone,
Go to the Firewall Settings section, and go to Trust Control. From here, you can set which devices on your network you trust. If you trust then, change the trust level to Full Trust. If you trust everything on your network, you can go to the left side where it shows you router info, and change the status to Full Trust for that and it will trust everything.
After this, you may need to reboot or reset the connection.
Let us know if this helps!
Hi Greystone:
If you open the Network Security Map from the NIS GUI, could you please see that all of your connected devices are set for Full Trust?
Please ensure that they are all set to the above and post back.
Thanks,

Edit - Oops! I see that Tim has beat me to it! Go with his advice.
Hi Again,
I did as suggested but still no luck so I did a bit more digging.
The network and printer sharing have been turned off, so I figured just turn them back on and it should be fine.
Problem is that they won't stay in the on position.
Is there a setting in Norton that needs to reflect I want to be allowed to share ??
Thanks again.
Love the security but sometimes it's a tad confusing
Hi Greystone:
A few questions....
1) Did you upgrade NIS as Administrator one these machines?
2) What Operating System and revision are you running on the affected systems?
3) Is everything set for Full Trust on all machines and devices running NIS 2012 in the Network Map?
4) What you you mean that Network and Printer sharing settings wont's stay in the on position?
5) Does this thread apply to your current configuration? (see below)

Please let us know in detail.

Follow Up:
It turns out it was coincidence that the NIS upgrade was done after the Zero Access Trojan infected my pc.
After working with the team at the Virus forum they discovered several registry entries that were corrupted by the virus.
After repairing these entries the network access returned to normal.
I was able to return the trust level back to shared and the network is functioning correctly.
I would like to once again thank this team for their quick and thorough response to rectifying the issue.
After never having such a serious virus in all my years (30) of using a PC, it shows how important new versions of NIS to upgrade as they become available.
Hopefully it will be another 30 years before I have to deal with such a threat again.
Kudos to Norton and the members of the support forum.
