Makes me wonder how many other "issues" every "build" has that are known. The pressure in my opinion is to keep shareholders happy.
Some companies put out the next years product around August/Sept, auto manufacturers do it as well as companies producing Internet Suites for example. It also could be that around January people in the Western nations don't have as much cash to lay out after Christmas, but there's a lot of students going back to university this time of year.
If there are known issues in software before it's ready for prime-time (retail) it's called Beta. But as we all know, there are plenty of companies that release it anyway.
I haven't updated to the 2013 release, I thought it best to wait & see for a month or two.

That is true of all software. All software has bugs. If all known issues had to be fixed before final release, no software would ever make it to RTM. The following article is enlightening:
It's a sign of the times unfortunately. I, like you, decided on sitting on the fence after reading some of the early posts on this new release and will update probably next month after they iron out some of the bugs reported.
I have another reason to wait a bit, I have a Greek licence key on my three pc's and they run out next month but the new boxed version I have is English so once I renew with that one I shall opt for the auto update as I want to keep my log ins and virus vault on my pc and not in the cloud. I did read I would lose this if I did a clean install.
Looking at some of the screen shots, not too bad. I suppose it's a case of 'watch this space'.
Its the FireFox syndrone. They set a release date and release whatever version that is ready on that date. Lots of complaints about NIS 2013 since its release, so I will not upgrade until I see some improvments.
Just to confirm when setting weekly scan, software will not hold tick in day selected

I have the same problem, schedule under 2012 was set to 10am on Monday but although I can set the time, the days remain unticked when set. I will see whether the full scan works Monday.
