I am using NIS 5 with OS X Lion 10.7.2, and for the past few days my Live Update has been incomplete. When I click "update everything now", sometimes it says it's downloading 2 items, but then in the update summary window, only 1 update appears. I usually get norton deepsight community threat list updates everyday, and I haven't seen any in the past 2-3 days. I checked the history in Norton Firewall, and they haven't been there for a for the past few days. Only virus definitions and anti-phishing definitions have been updated for the past few days. For example, if Live Update says it's downloading 2 items (and neither of the 2 items are virus defs) , then in the summary window (and in the firewall history) it will only say that 1 item, anti-phishing definitions, have been updated. What could be causing this error, and how can I fix it?
Just as a follow-up note, this issue seemed to start after doing a restart on my Mac.
Hi lucasjay,
The DeepSight threat list update is downloaded in a different way than all other products. It's done in such a way that LiveUpdate isn't sure if it's needed unless it's available. The other products are downloaded in such a way that LiveUpdate already knows they're available. Because LiveUpdate doesn't know the Deepsight threat list is available, it may show in the window that it's attempting to download it even though it may not be available.
So what you're seeing isn't necessarily a bug. Sometimes the update is available and it will download it at those times.
