Many thanks.  Problem solved.  For some reason the setting for Itunes had changed to 'Block All'

Thanks again,

Hi Si,

No problem at all - glad you found my reply helpful.
Most likely the setting for iTunes had changed because the MD5 of iTunes.exe had been modified.

Hi there,
Having recently upgraded to Itunes 8 I am unable to access the itunes store without first disabling Norton Internet Security.  When it is disabled I can access the store fine.  Why is NIS preventing the connection and how can I get NIS to recognise & allow my internet connection to the Itunes store?

Many thanks in advance for any help.
Si

Hi.

What version of NIS are you running? If 2008, is it 15.5.0.23?

Try going into the firewall settings, under program control -- and check that the rule for iTunes.exe is set to "Allow."
