NIS - Disk write problem

Hello!

I'm using Norton Internet Securitu for almost 2 years and, from time to time I have this (very annoying) problem: the ccsvchst.exe starts to write huge amounts of data to HDD with no reason. For example, today in one hour it wrote 20Giga!!!! Why an anti-virus software writes so much data to HDD?!?!?

Even more, during this time, the computer completly frezes from time to time for 4-8 seconds (even when typing text) so it's almost impossible to use it. After a while, everything will go back to normal.

Do you have any idea how can I fix this problem? Or, if it is a bug, where I can send a report?

Thank you,

Adrian Danila

PS. Please excuse my poor english...

This could be the disk optimization feature.

Check under the Performance link at the top of the main NIS screen. Look for a light blue vertical bar on the top graph that would indicate the disk has been optimized.

Hello,

I have WindowsXP Professional SP3 and the latests NIS version (20.1.0.24).

I've defragmented the HDDs but it didn't worked. However, I've removed the NIS completly and I have installed the program again and so far it worked perfectly. Even the big delays in NIS interface are gone and now, the aplication works as it should.

Best regards and thank you for your answers...

Lastest version is 20.3.0.36

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Product-Update-20-3-of-Norton-Internet-Security-and-Norton/td-p/913389

Only NIS 20.3.0.36 isn't generally available yet!! Read the updates in the announcement.

Can you be more specific in which directories data is written with their filenames?
