Occasionally the NIS GUI is not accessible when I start up my computer in the morning. Task Manager shows Norton running, but I can't access the program until I reboot the computer. This has happened on a few occasions in the the last year or so, but recently it happened twice in two days. I completely reinstalled NIS after uninstalling and using the Norton Removal Tool. It happened again this morning and a reboot was required to access the GUI.
Here are some pertinent details:
Windows 8.1 64-bit PC, fully updated.
Norton Internet Security 21.3.0.12; Boot protection set to Normal.
Task Manager says NIS.exe and Uistub.exe are running, but when I click on my Norton shortcut nothing happens.
Clicking on Identity Safe 'Vault is Closed' opens a small 'System Restart Needed' notice.
When I reboot the computer and access the GUI, it says Live Update has run in the background during this GUI-inaccessible period.
Running Support both before and after these incidents does not find any issues with NIS.
