NIS Identity Safe

hi , i normally use firefox remember user name and password only.

what are the advantage of using identity safe? actually it is the same right? just that confidential info are stored on norton instead of firefox?

thanks

Is it possible to have more than one user with NIS2010 identity safe?

Thanks for the swift reply, we've only ever used one windows account to log on.

If thats the only way to do it, i will have to look at creating another log on, because she's already beat me to the identity safe and the windows account is mine:smileymad:

Again, my thanks

Hi jimius

My son has an expression "If you're not fast you're last" - seems appropriate here:smileywink:

You can though export her information to a .NPM file and then import it to identity safe once you create a new windows account for her. See the following:-

Hi md

Yes!  a two horse race, last again. Mind you she's very nice to me when she gets to come first. (no pun intended):smileywink:

Thanks for all the help. Problem solved.

Hi jimius,

Nice to hear that your problem has been solved. If you have NIS 2010 , You can also create a Roaming profile of your Identity Safe. One can use a roaming profile and the other can use a local profile in same windows account. Connect a USB (Pendrive) and create a Roaming Profile and you can safe your Identity safe data(it will function similar to your local profile) or You can also export your local profile to the Roaming profile.

Note: USB can have only one profile.

Refer to help links available in the Identity safe windows. Do get back to us if you  need further clarifications.

Hi ,

You can find more info about identity safe from following link

Thanks,

Hello timboyboy,

To add to the great information provided by bleeper24, Norton Identity Safe provides a high level of security because it encrypts the data that you save. You have the recommended option to password protect your Identity Safe Profile, so that no one else can use your logins.

Norton Identity Safe provides a great deal of flexibility in managing your logins.  You can save multiple logins for the same webpage, organize your logins into folders, view all your login info at a glance, backup your Identity Safe data, export it to a CSV file and also add notes to safely store other ‘non-login’ data such as social security numbers, frequent flyer account numbers, etc.

Perhaps this slide show tutorial will shed some more light on the benefits of using Norton Identity Safe.

I have used it for years, and I don’t know how I would get along without it!

thanks for the info, sounds great so many advantages

by the way how do i delete away my current identity profile and recreate a new one?

thanks

Do you mean delete your current Norton Identity Safe profile?  If so,

    1. Open the main NIS interface.
    2. Go to Web Settings > Identity SafeBackup Identity Safe Data > Configure [+]
    3. In the Backup Window, "Browse" to save the data onto a USB flash drive or other convenient location. Add a password for extra security.
    4. Log out of Identity Safe.
    5. Reset the current Identity Safe Profile by providing a wrong or empty password twice in the login window.

  1. Create a new Identity Safe Profile. (Do not select to import anything)
  2. Go to Web Settings > Identity Safe >  Restore Identity Safe Data > Configure [+]
  3. Browse to the NPM file you just saved on the USB flash Drive or other location.  Click OK.

Comcast, with Norton, also gave me "Constant Guard", which has an auto login to secure sites. Does anyone know how this tool compares to Norton Identity Safe? Constan Guard "appears" to be a Norton tool, but nothing ever actually says that. It opens a separate "secure view" browser for https sites, which cannot run add-ons, macros, etc., to help protect my data. the CG login is via a PIN entered by mouse clicks to avoid key loggers.

Is Norton Identity Safe best to use, or should I use teh Constant Guard? I am jsut starting to use these tools, not sure I see a big difference. If Norton does the job, I can dump CG and save some resources.

Chuck

Hello Chuck,

Based upon some threads in the Comcast Security and Anti-Virus forums, I would remove the Constant Guard feature and use the Norton Identity Safe feature; especially if you want to save some resource usage.

Since Identity Safe is already built into the Norton Comcast Security Suite, you will have less processes running.

Hi timboyboy,

One thing I did not see mentioned is that with ID safe it also protects against things like keyloggers because you don't have to type in anything from your keyboard. Keyloggers won't see your password if you use ID safe because NIS will enter the login details so that you don't have to type. :smileyhappy:

Best wishes.

Allen

I do not currently use NIS Identity safe but I am interested in using it if I can find out more information (Currently use Roboform).

I do not want my login information to be stored in cyber space.  I only want my login information locally stored on my PC (Win 7 64 bit with NIS 19.1.1.3).

I als would like to know if I can synchronize (or copy if sync not available) the login information with my Android Thunderbolt phone and then be able to at least see my login information so I can manually enter it.  Again, I do not want to store any of this information on the web.

Thanks, I look forward to your response.

Thanks for the response, I was afraid that was going to be the response.

As I said I now use Roboform (on a BB which syncs locally but switching to Android which syncs on web).  So I think what I will do is to continue with Roboform and then I can export logins to a passwrod protected PDF file.

Thank you for you suggestions.
