NIS Renewal Question

Hello everyone I'm new to the forums and have a question about renewing my subscription. I got NIS last year for my computer and now it is time to renew. I have the 1year/3pc version, and to renew Norton is asking for $70. That price is too much for me. Since i only use 1 of the 3 available pc slots i was wondering if i could downgrade to a 1year/1pc version? When i try to renew it doesn't give me the option to downgrade to the 1year/1pc version. Someone please help me so i can renew my sub and save money. Thank You!

Hello

I see the same as bjm except across the top, it says in a long, red sign that says my subscription has expired and asks me if I want to renew. I renewed my subscription on Nov. 25 for 366 days. So on one page, it both says subscription is expired and Norton Security Premium and below that is Premium Subscription ACTIVE (359 days).

Thanks.

lmacri: Hi bjm_:

Thanks for the follow-up.  No, I still have no idea what "Premium Subscription" means when I view the license for my Norton Internet Security at https://my.norton.com/Devices/Home/List.

just tried >  https://my.norton.com/Devices/Home/List

> now, I see new my.norton.com

Edit: and now manage.norton.com lands on my.norton.com

and I see
Norton Security Premium
PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION: ACTIVE

floplot:
The name is probably there because you used a NS Premium key to renew your NIS.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that my 3-PC license is still registered under the same NIS 25-digit product key (i.e., starting with "JTQG...") that I purchased in December 2014.  When Norton Customer Support renews my NIS subscription every year they simply add 365 days to my old subscription and void my spare (unused) NS Premium product key, so I don't think that the "Premium" in "Premium Subscription" has anything to do with the voided key.

I don't want to hijack OP mray's thread by going off-topic, so I'm happy to leave this as one of life's little mysteries.

Hello Imacri,
any progress re Premium Subscription.

When I log in to the new My Norton site at https://my.norton.com/ (not https://manage.norton.com/)

my.norton.com opens login.norton.com and Sign In lands on (old) manage.norton.com.
Just me. Just saying.

floplot:

Isn't My Norton.com the same as manage.com? The premium is usually put at the end of Norton Security and is the new name for Norton Security with Backup. The name is probably there because you used a NS Premium key to renew your NIS.

Hi floplot:

When I log into https://manage.norton.com/ and choose Services, I don't see any mention of a Premium Subscription.  I assumed from OP mray's original post that the Premium Subscription is some sort of optional service now offered for an additional fee when users renew online.

Services shows I'm using 1 of 3 seats, so I assume I still have my same NIS 3-PC license.

Hello Imacri

Isn't My Norton.com the same as manage.com? The premium is usually put at the end of Norton Security and is the new name for Norton Security with Backup. The name is probably there because you used a NS Premium key to renew your NIS. I assume that your My Norton.com site still shows the same 3 seats. I'm sure you don't have the 10 seats, the Backup program, able to use program on Macs, cell phones, tablets. Those would go with the Norton Security Premium. You can only use it for 3 computers or laptops..

Thanks.

Imacri,

I've asked for Help re Premium Subscription?

mray:

My Norton Internet Security subscription is expiring in a couple days, so I looked into renewing it.  When I go to renew the product, I am given three choices:

  • Norton Internet Security
  • Norton 360
  • Premium option I'm not interested in

I'm just curious.  I recently renewed my 3-PC license for Norton Internet Security with a spare Norton Security Premium product key I bought on sale (Norton Customer Service simply added 365 days to my existing NIS subscription and voided the NS Premium product key when I contacted them via Live Chat).  When I log in to the new My Norton site at https://my.norton.com/ (not https://manage.norton.com/) and click on the icon for my protected device it says that I have a Premium Subscription.

Does anyone know what services are included in a Premium Subscription?  Is this a new name for the Virus Protection Promise?

Norton Security took over NIS and N360. Your better off upgrading to Norton Security. All you need is a valid license key. Amazon has many deals. Just purchase the download version but all you need is the key. Then download Norton Security from Norton itself and insert your license key that you from Amazon. Newegg also has great deals.

You appear to have legacy Norton installed and are asking Norton to renew your legacy installed product....so, at this time, Norton is offering you the option to renew your legacy subscription.

Shop around for new Norton Security and transition to new Norton Security offering.
