a while ago, I saw an announcement that NIS would be replaced by Norton Security. I cannot locate that announcement. I know that this has already happened.
In that announcement, it was stated that current licenses of NIS would be renewed, when scheduled, and that they would NOT need to change to Norton Security.
I currently hold 2 licenses (I have more that 5 devices). I do not use the backup facility within NIS.
I use SSR 2013 R2 for backup. this was a forced issue with users of Norton Ghost. I was NOT happy with the LACK of a smooth product change procedure, but that's another story.
one of my licenses has just been automatically renewed, as expected. so far, i have not seen any notice that I will need to replace it with the new Norton Security.
does anyone know how long NIS will continue to be supported, before being forced to change to Norton Security ?? my second license will expire/renew in Nov.
it doesn't make sense that NIS will be support indefinitely, but planning for the change needs to be done on my part. I have a mix of win XP, win 7 Pro & Ultimate (32 & 64 bit) & win 8.1 (64bit).
does anyone know if an upgrade/update procedure/documentation is available to help make this transition happen smoothly ??
any advise or information concerning the use of Norton Security for my situation would be very appreciated.
I will be looking into installing the NIS upgrade to NIS 22, but from what I have seen in other posts, I will be doing that very carefully. if that is still around when the time is right.
Thx
