NIS2010 preventing program from loading

I have NIS 2010 version 17.6.0.32 installed on two systems and it is preventing ACT! 2000 database program from loading. The ACT! splash page with load momentarily and then disappear. When I shut down NIS the ACT! program still fails.

I know it is NIS because I had no problems before its installation and the problem surfaced immediately. I also installed ACT! on two systems still running Kaspersky and it runs fine. I tried it on another with NIS and it fails the same way. I also have my program control set to Allow ACT!

I need access to this database. Any help or suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for you response.

I'm running XP pro service pack 3 on the problem system. No, on the 2x removal of Kaspersky.

The ACT! program will install and run fine on the systems currently still  running Kaspersky, and ACT! appears to be the only program that has been affected,

Any suggestion on what I should try now?

Thanks so much!

What floplot is suggesting is that failing to remove Kaspersky completely from thesystem may cause conflicts in Norton that show up when running other programs.  KAS leaves drivers behind, as does Norton and most other antivirus programs.

The diagnosis should probably start with a complete removal of KAS and NIS and then begin with a clean install to identify any remaining conflicts.

Sounds great, if I knew how to do a complete removal. Love to hear some instructions.

Hi Pinto

Love to hear some instructions.

Well, here is the Norton Product Removal Tool with Instructions >

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&ssfromlink=true&sprt_cid=1a13409b-29db-4397-a286-9dec49f8e252&seg=hho&ct=us&lg=en&docurl=20080828154508EN

and here is the Kaspersky User Forum ...you're a Kaspersky user ...I'm sure they'll be happy to help you

http://forum.kaspersky.com/

If you have problems uninstalling Kaspersky, then there is a removal tool you can use to uninstall, look Here for instructions.

also read http://forum.kaspersky.com/index.php?showtopic=5233  for additional instructions removing Norton products etc.

If you need more help....just ask  :smileyhappy:

If NIS is the only Norton product on your computer, then you can use the Norton Removal Tool. It will however, wipe out all your settings (such as Identity Safe) and any other Norton products on your computer.

To back up Identity Safe, you read instructions over here:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nco.nsf/0/e5a 44e06f97b3f89882572260060120f?OpenDocument&seg=hm& ...

To download the Norton Removal Tool, you can go here:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view .jsp?wv_type=public_web&ssfromlink=true&sprt_cid=1 ...

I recommend the following: download NIS 2010 (English version) from over here and save it to your desktop:

http://www.norton.com/nis10

Keep your Norton product key handy (you can get it from your Norton account) although NIS 2010 should pick up your product key automatically (this is intentionally left behind by the removal tool).
