I'm using NIS2010 on 2 desktops and 1 Dell Laptop. On the laptop (only), a right-click scan on a file results always in the following message : "NIS has encountered an internal program error", except if I deactivate the tamper protection. It's exactly the same symptom as the one reported by Mohda in August 2009 on this forum.
I encountered initially this problem with Norton 360, but, at that time, I also got the "...uiStub.exe : the parameter is incorrect" message when I tried to launch Norton360, clicking either the "Start" - "All programs menu" -... or the Norton icon on the desk. I could only launch NIS via a click in the systray. I removed Norton360 from the laptop and tried NIS2010 with the same results. But, same day, upgrading from my original NIS 17.0.0.136 version to 17.1.0.19, has fixed the "uiStub.exe" problem. I still have to resolve the context scan problem (right click scan). The "uiStub.exe" problem has also been reported on this forum but the only resolved case I found didn't correspond to my situation.
I looked at various possibilities, in particular a potential problem arising from a specific program installed on the Dell laptops, the Wave Embassy Trust Suite or the Touchpad software, but deactivating the corresponding programs at startup didn't solve the problem. On this forum I have also seen people reporting specific Dell laptop issues.
I looked at the specific case of Mohda and the answers from Yogesh (August 2009), but looking at the tasklist.exe output , I couldn't find by myself a way to identify the culprit and find the solution.
Obviously, I can survive even without the context scan tool, but I don't like leaving unresolved issues like that one.
Thanks for your help.
