I think there is a new bug with a Live Update, and/or new infection that is not being detected.
In the past 24 hours, I have seen 3 different computers (one is mine), showing these symptoms;
- all running NIS 2010
- all running windows 7, both 32 and 64 bit
- After a live update, start showing while processing updates;
EMAIL IN ..... FAIL
EMAIL OUT ..... FAIL
and the email protection slider now shows OFF.
- NIS 2010 can no longer connect for live updates.
- NIS 2010 can not access net to peform "HELP"
- All web browsers (IE, Firefox) fail to connect
- BUT, TCP networking is OK, if used from a command prompt (Ping, DNS, etc)
So the superficial first view seems like something has blocked NIS from the net, turned
off email protection, and installed some type of proxy that blocks web browsers?
Is anyone else seeing this now? Any idea of steps to isolate it, since obviously
NIS 2010 failed to detect it or prevent itself from being altered.
Thanks,
Neal
