During the upgrade to NIS2011 I was prompted to uninstall Spyware Doctor v 7 as it was deemed incompatible.
Should I now leave Spyware Doctor off or is it OK to reinstall it ?
No big deal as it runs out in about a month anyway.

HI Kremmen,
You should not reinstall Spyware Doctor as it has a real-time component and can interfere with NIS. Having two real-time security software installed at the same time is not advised.
If you want a good on-demand scanner which is safe to use alongside NIS I would recommend MalwareBytes. You can find this at the following location.
Please make sure and download the free version only as the paid version includes a real-time component which can interfere with NIS.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
Allen

If I turn off Nortons Spyware feature can I continue using Spyware Doctor?
Norton and Spyware Doctor have worked on the same pc's at my job for five years.
We really don't want to choose between these two great products.
So, does turning off Nortons new spyware feature fix the conflict?
That won’t do as the spyware detection is part of the antivirus engine. What you can do, although not recommended, is turn off real time protection of spyware doctor.
Ok that would work. We only use Spyware Doctor as a scanner. It finds stuff Malware Bytes misses.
turning off Spyware Doc realtime protection is an easy fix
Hello aceplace57
Instead of using Spyware Doctor 7, I would recommend the free version of SuperAntiSpyware along with malwarebytes. Then you would have 2 on demand programs which will not interfere with NIS 2011.
