So about a month ago I got the first taste of this nasty little malware. It reset my file extension mappings or nulled them so opening even executable files to remove it became a challenge, entered proxy redirects into my WIndows 7 Hosts file and then started with "you're infected, buy me!" popups.
To date, I have had over a dozen attempts to reinfect my system. Thankfully, I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.60 installed now as it was needed to find and remove the original infection.
NIS2012 detects NONE of these symptoms, prevented none of the recurrences and can't seem to recognize this infection at all. It didn't recognize the initial one and it hasn't recognized anything since, despite the dozen times Malwarebytes has stopped this rogue program.
There is a hole in NIS2012. Other users appear to be seeing the same as much of the self-help on removing the Win7 antivirus malware package is recent, some posted in these forums.
Can this please be addressed or an ETA provided on the LiveUpdate that will deal with this particular infection?
