Why am I frequently, every few days, seeing this message “No active subscription on this device”?
Each time this happens I have to sign in again to re-activate. Could it be due to the Norton VPN - something seems to frequently disconnect the computer from Norton?
I’d be very surprised if a Norton VPN blocked access to the Norton subscription servers!
Our devices are Windows 11 PCs with all the latest updates - on a work network.
I’ve never used a VPN before, but Norton 360 keeps suggesting I need a VPN for security - if I say “no, ignore” it reminds me again at the next Smart Scan, so then I accept the VPN just to stop the messages! I get fed up with constant unnecessary reminders from Norton.
Try turning off the VPN for a few days and see if you still see the issue with the subscription servers. It has been reported here that Norton does block access to their web pages from known VPN IP addresses, including their own.
Thank you. Yes I will try switching off the VPN. It might also solve the problem with me occasionally loosing the license to Microsoft Office - if so it indicates a serious problem with the Norton VPN service!
It is not a problem with the Norton VPN service. A VPN does not block or filter any web content. It is the website you are trying to access that is probably blocking access from known VPN IP addresses. This is done for copywrite, legal or political reasons. There is nothing a VPN provider can or should do to bypass the site’s protection for its content.
