No file downloads

I have queried previously on this problem..

I am unable to download files using bittorent.

I have attempted  'port forwarding' according to NIS instructions, to no avail.

I have tried disabling the NIS firewall, to no avail.

In all cases, downloading worked initially, then failed.

I have been informed that the download manager will open a port automatically with Windows Firewall.

I cannot absorb all the technical terms involved, e.g, TCP, UDP, DNA, DHT, UPnP, NAT, NAT-PMP, etc.

I mean no respect, but this knowledge requirement is beyond me.

I am asking if there is a way to completely disable NIS, so that it has no influence whatever on my system, without deleting (and hopefully reinstalling) it at a later time??? This is an act of desperation, obviously, before I give up.

I have explored all possibilities available to me at this stage. I must now begin to eliminate all possible causes of this difficulty, in consideration of my limited knowledge. Perhaps I simply do not have the intelligence required to master this function? I would appreciate a realistic response to this question; I can accept reality, since I did not use a computer computer until I was 40 years old.

I have nowhere else to turn. The alternative is to give up  on downloading these files, which does not seem to present such problems to so many other Internet users.

Thank you.:manfrustrated:
