No More Instant Messenger Monitoring

What is the reason behind the instant messenger monitoring feature not included in the new version of Norton Family? This is a very useful feature in monitoring the IM activities of our children.

Thanks for the inquiry.  Beginning October 8, 2012, we discontinued the IM Chat Monitoring feature as part of your Norton Online Family service. We're making this change so we can focus our energy on new features that better address parents' concerns about their kids' online activities.

All the other Norton Online Family Premier features are still available for you to use, including:

  • Web filtering on your child's PC, Mac, or Android device
  • Video monitoring
  • Keyword search monitoring
  • Time limit management

Better address whose concerns? How did I miss this? I'm pretty concerned that I don't have instant messaging monitoring anymore! This is where my kids have gotten into some pretty big trouble in the past.
