The Intel Storage Matrix is a hybrid software RAID. Ghost is not designed to be used with software RAID's. If Ghost 12 does indeed work, then I would downgrade, but the product is not tested or designed with software RAID's in mind.
Thank Erik for the Information, Shouldn't that information (Ghost is not designed to be used with software RAID's.) be listed on the Ghost 14 Package?
Is there a way I can downgrade my Ghost 14 so I can try Ghost 12? Or is there any other Norton Product that will work with my Software RAID?
I really need to do a backup, I haven't done a backup since I purchase this computer over a year ago.
I really appreciate all your help!
Rich
We've been discussing this with some people and would like you to do the following to see if we can get this to work:
- Update to the latest driver set for the Intel Storage Matrix
- If the problem continues, make note of the version for these drivers
If you continue to have problems we'll more than likely need to collect some further information.
Thanks Again Erik,
I will look for the updated drivers tomorrow and I will make note of the drivers version I updated too! I will let you know the outcome by this Friday.
I really appreciate your help!
Rich
I look forward to your response. Hopefully just updating resolves things for you.
Hi Erik,
I had the following RAID Driver Version in my computer.
Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
Driver Date: 9/29/2007
Driver Version: 7.8.0.1012
I upgraded my RAID Driver Version in my computer to the following
Intel(R) ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/DO SATA RAID
Driver Date: 7/20/2008
Driver Version: 8.5.0.1032
After upgrading my RAID Driver, I rebooted my computer and ran Ghost 14 again and had the same problem.
Do you have any other ideas I can try?
Thanks for your help!
Rich
After updating did you try creating a new Recovery disk? If not, create a new customer recovery disk.
If you have SecuROM it may not let you do anything with your CD or DVD drive remove SecuROM first then try if that works then that was the problem if not then I don't know but many gamers have been complaining of issue because of this software that is installed to copy protect video games.
just one customer helping another

Hope that helps
Good catch soulprovider. If that does indeed end up the reason why, then I'll make sure that a document is created with this error and to look for this program.
Hi Erik & Soulprovider, Thanks for your ideas.
Erik,
After upgrading my RAID driver, I did create Recovery Disk and tested the Recovery Disk to make sure it works, and it seems to work well.
Soulprovider,
I’m not familiar with SecuROM. I did do a File Search, and nothing was found. I not sure if I have this or not.
I’m not trying to do a backup to my CD/DVD drive. I’m trying to do a Backup to my 1TB External USB Drive Hard Drive. I also try doing a backup to the C: drive itself. When trying to backup to anyone of these drives, I continue to get the same error (NO Recognizable NTFS File System Found).
Thanks
Rich
