On my daughter's computer everything was working great up to a few weeks ago. Then I noticed when checking on her activity page it showed no activity at all in any of the reports. I did check to make sure the program is still on the computer and it is. The "paw" is on the task bar and shows how much time is left in her session. I also know the time is working because she has asked to extend the time when it runs out. So it seems like the program is still on and working it is just not generating any reports. Also, another question: I assume that Norton can not report on IM messaging being sent in a chat room on a game site, is this correct?
Is the Web Supervision turned On at Settings -> Web? You mentioned the time restrictions work fine. Do you see any entries for time report at Activity -> Time?
OnlineFamily.Norton supports following Instant Messengers to monitor Instant Messaging activity for your child:
• Yahoo Messenger
• MSN Messenger
• Windows Live Messenger
• AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) - (Note: AIM 7.0 is currently not supported.)
• Google Talk
Note: OnlineFamily.Norton does not support Web browser based clients of Instant Messengers listed above. Currently, OnlineFamily.Norton supports Instant Messengers only on Windows. Instant Messengers on Mac are not supported.
I have to check the web setting you talk about not sure were you are talking about but i can look around to see if I can find it. But in all the reports they all say no activity last 7 days which is wrong because she is on the computer.
i checked the web settings and the supervision is checked "on". It is on for all of the settings. The internet is working. She is spending time on the internet every day. The time supervision function is working, because it does limit her time and turn the pc off at the specified time. However, no activity is reported after she has been on. What can you do to help?
Katie I would like to report the same problem and ask for help. This product has been set up for some time with no changes. For one user on one computer (a Windows computer) there has now been no activity for 7 days. For another user on a MAC there has been no activity since Jan 1. I know that both children are using the computers online. Thanks - Vince
Could you all uninstall and reinstall Norton Safety Minder to see if it helps? All your account settings are being stored in the severs, so once you finish reinstalling the program, you don't have to re-configure the settings.
Thanks for the reply Katie. I had sent you a private message after reading a related topic. I have uninstalled on one computer and cannot successfully complete a reinstall - so now the computer has no safety minder Sw on it. The details were in my message. I was about to use the Norton removal tool but that will also delete my entire Norton Internet Security and I don't know what will happen when I try to reinstall that (that is, I have the disk but don't know if it will let me install again or ask me to buy a new license...) Thanks - Vince
