However, I'm stil having the same issue with Antispam being turned on for Outlook 2013 where after opening the closing Outlook 2013 about 4 times or so, the Norton system tray icon disappears and I have no access to the User Interface unless I log out and log back in to Windows 8 (64-bit) or restart Windows 8. Is anyone else still having this issue? There are numerous threads of this being an issue a few months back but I wonder if the latest patch update to 20.4.0.40 fixed the disappearing system tray icon for anyone.
In the meantime, I've just disabled the antispam connection to Outlook.
It seems like this topic gets more confusing all the time. I saw nothing in the announcement for 20.4.0.40 that it corrected this situation.
I have seen your link and some research showed up the following from February where the same KB article was referenced and then a user showed the date of it (versus the date on the most recent one) and suggested changes to it - re: OFFICE 2013 inVista and XP not supported as well as suggesting that the KB was in fact was meant for 32 bit OFFICE only - not 64 bit (which it was suggested was not supported)?
So as I said, things are confusing - but I do believe if the 20.4.0.40 corrected it -thenit would have been listed in the changes the update contained.
I have the exact same problem, after 3-4 openings/closings of NIS 2013, it crashes (NIS 2013). Even disabling antivirus auto protect for the default 15 min doesn't help either.
Start outlook 2013 three/four times and the NIS crashes after which mouse over the NIS icon disappears from the tray. However if outlook 2013 is started again and "Open Norton AntiSpam" is clicked NIS shows an error windows with following error message in the clipboard:
Norton Internet Security 20.4.0.40 Error: 3040, 10180187 Windows 7 Professional 7601.18205.amd64fre.win7sp1_gdr.130708-1532 Norton Autofix Results: 1 item(s) Installation :: Success
Try to run NIS again and the UI does not show up and have to restart the computer.
So only way now is to disable the AnitSpam add-in in outlook. Tried updating NIS, resinstalling and all the Norton tools available also tried reinstalling windows etc.
