Norton 2008 subscription status at risk!

I've never had a problem with Norton 2008 before. I have version 15.0.0.60

Suddenly, as of this evening my norton subscription went completely down, showing At Risk for every component and that there was a problem with my subscription status and that I had to re-activate. My current subscription does not expire until Feburary of 2010 so I know the subscription isn't really expired.

I tried everything I could to get it to work. I tried the activate button but it would load, say it's connecting to the symantec servers and then the window would dissapear after a couple of seconds, and nothing was changed. I tried again and again, and searched this forum for help. I found one possible solution, to download these two files to fix the subscription problem:

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/linked_files/shared_tech/SymKBFix.EXE

http://www.norton.com/lmts

So I downloaded them and ran both of them, rebooting after each file. Once I ran the LMTS file, my subscription was restored. It currently says how many days I have left on this subscription which I believe is all correct. So at least the FIX button is gone and it's not telling me that I have a subscription problem or that I need to activate.

However, everything is still listed as "At risk" and I cannot enable any of the options (Virus Protection, Advanced Firewall, Intrusion Prevention etc.) I can't access any of the menus or enable anything. See the screenshot below of what I am seeing.

I'm at a total loss as to what the problem is. I have gone into the Subscritpion link on the left, and chose the "I have already purchsed a subscription. Please check my subscription status." It says my subscription is good and gives the remaining days that I have left on it. But still, everything is At Risk and I cannot change anything.

I also went into the Norton Internet Securtity tab (where everything is disabled there as well and I can't access any of the menus and I clicked on "Subscription 116 days remaining". That's when it came up with this error; a link to a file/webpage? that it could not find:

So going to subsciption in the bottom left of the main screen says my subscription is fine, but doing it through this link on the NIS tab says there's some problem. I don't get it.

I also ran the Help and Support section and it encountered a problem with my Subscription and so it "fixed" it. But it's still showing exactly as the first screenshot shows above. I'm completely stumped.

I can't use my utilities (scan for viruses, download from Live Update etc).

Norton was running fine today. I strangely suspect that the problem I have encountered with it now somehow is linked to me putting in a new extra hard drive in my computer and formating it for use because it wasn't until after I did this (which took about 2 hours for formating a 1TB drive) that I encountered a problem with my Norton. I came back to check on the format status (wasn't using the computer at all during the process) and there Norton was in the taskbar, flashing red indicating there was a problem.

I hope someone has some information that will be able to help me with this problemHas something strange happened with my Norton? I'd like to hope I don't have a virus as I didn't do anything that I would think would trigger it--I wasn't even using the computer when this became an issue. Would uninstalling and then re-installing the program fix the problem?

I would greatly appreaciate the help. Thank you.
