I have been testing Norton 2010 since last night, and also gave trial copy to my 13 tech friends, i have been collecting threats from different rogue reporting sites as well from friends pen drives and other media, well Norton has improved lot in 2010 version release, specially SONAR 2, but still this is not enough what i think!!, lot of threats are still undetected, it's heuristics caught what NIS 2009 missed, i had 41 samples of different types of threats and out them 3 were detected last night and 11 detected by SONAR 2 in aggressive mode by heuristics and insight..well i submit samples to Symantec and i get no response, neither the threats gets detected even after 5 days of submission, most of the scanners detected those threats when i uploaded on virustotal, from here i am not going to submit any sample to Symantec, because of no response in any sense.
Last week i also tested total security PRO rogue with NIS 2009 and it also failed to combat my testing PC against that threat, i am finally going to sale this testing PC with my Norton 2010 installed in it to my friend..There are lot of problem Symantec product is giving, sometime it's service framework stops and sometimes it's scanner falsely detected Mozilla firefox and deletes all data of firefox..creating lot of problem in my client managemnet services and business, and it's worst support..
It was a not very good experience with Norton, whether in earlier bulky Norton products or for now even it's fast and small resource footprint, Norton product have lost it's detection capabilities, may be 2010 version would do better in furure..Good bye to Norton...and god bless to it..!!
