Norton 2015

I am coming to the end of my current Norton subscription and whilst looking at various options, found that Norton 360 is being replaced with something else.  And this is feedback on this replacement product from a customer who bought it from Amazon.  Could I have the experts response please?  Can I assume that it is sutable for my laptop with Windows 7 & my desktop with Windows XP?

This review is from: Norton Security With Backup 2.0 25GB: 1 User, 10 Devices [2015] (PC/Mac/iOS/Android) (Printed Access Code)

I have used Norton products for many years but found this particular software presented numerous problems as a replacement for Norton 360. It took several hours to finally get it to work. The impression given is that you can connect up to 10 products including tablets. However, all you get is Anti Malware and 30 days free trial of their so called 'Premium' service to get some of the features which you thought you had already purchased with Norton Security with Backup. So, if you want, for example, protection for your emails etc Norton will want an additional £30.74 per year! This is clearly misrepresentation and contravenes trade descriptions. Symantec seem to becoming an increasingly greedy Company and loyal customers who renew their software with them every year are rewarded by having to pay prices much higher than offered here on Amazon and most retailers on the high street.
I did give Norton the opportunity to explain why they are asking so much more to cover tablets (and no doubt smart phones as well) when they clearly state that these items are covered with the purchase of the original product. Up to the time of this posting, I have not been favoured with a reply. Please draw your own conclusions as to the integrity of this Company. Sadly, irrespective of the effectiveness of the product in operation, such misleading representations means I can only give a one star rating.
POSTCRIPT:
Because of further developments using this product, I feel that it is necessary to elaborate on certain aspects: This new Norton product requires the complete removal of its predecessor before installation. It has many advance settings and for example, the Firewall literally has dozens of presets which may clash with some of the settings already existing on your computer. This happened to me with my desktop PC with the consequence that Norton couldn't even communicate with its own server to register the product and no connection could be established with the outside World i.e. no www or access to emails. Norton no longer offer a phone number or an email address for service back up. If you need assistance from them directly (other than deal through the Norton member support forum) then the only choice you really have is Live Chat. This may be fine if Norton's own security protocols don't prevent you from connecting with them or they actually have an agent available at the other end to pick up! I couldn't originally establish any contact with Norton and was left to my own devices to sort out all these major issues which took several hours. Since my original review other issues have emerged particularly pop-up windows appearing that 'Windows' was looking for files that did not exist. I did subsequently establish contact with Norton and their first technician gave up trying to resolve my difficulties and I had to be transferred to a Level 2 Case Manager. It took him nearly one and half hours operating my computer remotely to eventually resolve these additional issues.
Now, I want to emphasise that once one succeeds in making contact with Norton, their service in my experience is second to none and under this category they deserve a full 5 star rating. It is probably the case that becaust of the strict parameters of this product that it may expose other issues with ones computer which had not previously been apparent. In the case of my laptop, I never encountered the same istallation problems so I can fully understand why other reviewers may wish to give a much higher star rating. I would finally advise that this program takes quite a long time to install and at one stage when the progress bar completes its journey from left to right nothing then seems to be happening. Be patient - the installation procedure should eventually resume!
