Issue abstract: Norton inspects programs compiled by Visual Studio 2022 and flags them as containing Win64:Evo-gen [Trj] and quarantines the dll.
Detailed description: Compiling a local .net 8 Maui program copy being converted to .net 9 and Microsoft Graph 5.x with Visual Studio 2022 pro and after I put the code in for the MainPage and run it in windows, Norton quarantines the dll saying it is infected with Win64:Evo-gen [Trj]. I cannot continue forward. The .net 8 version of the same source code compiles and runs fine.
Product & version number: Norton 360 24.11.9615.1147 Gen Digital Inc 11/13/2024
OS details:Windows 11 pro
What is the error message you are seeing? We’ve moved *.DLL to your Quarantine because it was infected with Win64:Evo-gen [Trj].
If you have any supporting screenshots, please add them:
Interesting to note that the dll being quarantined is for the net9.0-maccatalyst version of the program, which is automatically created by the Visual Studio 2022 build process on the .net 9.0 Maui project type. I don’t use the maccatalyst version of the program since I don’t own a mac modern enough for Visual Studio 2022 integration. I would be glad to assist you in finding out what is causing this error. I have already performed a full system scan, which found 3 viruses in some folders and quarantined them. I tried to compile and run this program after the full scan and it still happens. I coded the program on a 2nd pc and copied it to my development pc and this still occurs. The 2nd pc has norton 360 version 22 on it and I performed a full system scan on it and found no viruses on it. The same source code runs fine on my 2nd PC, same version of Visual Studio and .net 9, with no viruses detected and it runs fine.
