First of all, I was one of the ones that had updated to 24.9 and I had issues…
-
The update is via a web installer. Not sure if Norton is trying to move away from the offline
installer, but a web installer isn’t good AT ALL. Maybe Norton is trying to “force” on a selected
few the trial of the new version- I don’t know. Luckly, I save previous offline installer .exes out
of habit. So, at least we are able to roll back to previous installers. -
Secondly, updating to 24.9 REMOVES THE APP’S PASSWORD! I only noticed because
being curious about any updates and advances made. Not only does it remove the app’s
desktop password, it also constantly requires the password when making each individual
setting change. Before, password is only required after exiting the app’s settings. Until exiting
settings, we had the ability to navigate, back and forth, to the various pages in settings making
adjustments. However, now switching to different settings within a setting page ALWAYS
requires a password, which is tedious and frustrating. -
Lastly, the settings that were generalized in nature, have been broken down into individual
parts. For example, like righting detailed instructions on how to brush your teeth…and telling
you to put the toothpaste on the bristles instead of on the BACK of the toothbrush…THEN
instructing you that the brush goes on the INSIDE your mouth. -
a) BRING BACK THE OFFLINE INSTALLER FILE!!!
b) None of the tech reps(10+) knew what an offline installer is nor how it actually
works…EVEN AFTER EXPLAINING IT THOROUGHLY!
