Norton 360 3.0 LiveUpdate

I have Norton 360 installed on two PCs; one using Windows Vista Home Premium and the other using XP3. It works fine on Vista but on XP3 for some reason my LiveUpdate doesn't seem to work. LiveUpdate does not find any new virus definitions and says I have the latest virus definitions. Give it a couple of days and well it says the same thing except my virus definitions are out-of-date. Run LiveUpdate and it tells me I have the latest virus definitions. After about 3 days I can be sure that I do not have the latest virus definitions.

I have uninstalled Norton 360 and re-installled it but now it says my definitions update was 137 days ago but when I run LiveUpdate it says I have the latest virus definitions. This I know not to be true.

Why doesn't my LiveUpdate work? I go through to Norton Support and the nice person I spoke to before managed to get me the virus defintions which was great but then after 3 days it came back to the same issue that I myself could not get the latest virus definitions.

Please help!

Hi riddy,

Welcome to Norton Community!

Check the system date set in your computer first. This problem may happen if the system date is not correct. What is the version of Norton 360 you currently have? You can check it from Help & Support > About.

Also, let us know how you uninstalled the Norton 360 earlier. Did you use the Norton removal Tool for uninstall?

If not, try to download Norton removal tool from and run it multiple times(2-3 times). This is to uninstall the Norton 360 using the Norton removal tool and install the upgraded version- Norton 360 3.0 .

1. Download a Trialware of Norton 360 3.0 from this Symantec Web Page.

2. Go to this LINK and follow the instructions for uninstall.

3. You can install the trialware and activate it using the same product key of Norton 360. You can get it from your Norton Account. Run LiveUpdate repeatedly until you see the message that no more updates are available.

Let us know the results.

Yogesh

I've got the same problem.

I even reinstalled my entire PC!

Then I installed Norton 360 v2 right away, and after that Norton 360 v3 upgrade.

The problem was still there.

I can't get support, because of the weekend. I'll try again on monday.

I searched the american helpdesk site; there was an item that covered this problem.

At this site there's a link to download a fixtool. I've already installed it, but I have to restart my computer... I'll let you know the result...

I did not upgrade or download Norton 360 Version 3.0. I purchased it at PC World and the full package runs fine on the other PC - in fact everything works fine on this PC as well - except the LiveUpdate.

As far as I am aware the time on my display clock is correct - it automatically synchronizes with "time.windows.com".

I had uninstalled Norton 360 using the Norton Tool which came with the package and after reinstallation, it done LiveUpdate successfully once and then hasn't recognised any new virus definitions available for my Norton for the last 3 days.

Does anyone suggest a specific time for UK users to do LiveUpdate - I mean, theoretically, it shouldn't matter... should it?

Thanks to all - Sjoerd - I have highlighted his method as the one
I followed which solved the problem.

Anyone else having the same problem, follow the link in
Sjoerd's post and follow the steps.

Thanks again - LiveUpdate running fine again.:smileyvery-happy:
