Norton 360 3.5 won't open

I don't know whats wrong with my computer. But Norton won't open. Everytime I double click on it, the little hourglass comes then leaves, and nothing happens. I just recently reformated my hard drive, and re installed norton a 2 months ago. Can anybody help?

Hi Godzflava,

Try restarting the computer. If the problem persists, follow the instructions mentioned in this Symantec Support Article.

I did everything in that link you gave me. Norton is back up and fuctioning. However. On my external drive I had a norton back up folder, for my D:drive that I would like to restore to my d drive. However when I open up norton 360 backup, it says there are no backups set up yet. So How do I restore my files on my d drive that I have on my external drive?

You should make sure that the external disk with your backup data is connected to your system and then choose "restore files" from the "backup" menu in Norton 360.

What version was used to create the backup on the external drive?

The version I used was Norton 360 Version: 3.5.2.11 When I click on restore files within norton back up, it tells me that there are no backu p set selected. “please select a valid backup set using the View all button.” I did that with no response or movement. Is there another way to do it?

Is the external drive you backed up to connected to your system and visible to Windows?

Yes it is. It is visible, because I click on it within the my computer folder and checked the n360 backup folder.

Is there a backup/files set(s) in that folder

If there are backup files/sets in that folder then try the steps in the following post by Joel Michel to rebuild your backup index.

1-  I understand most of this and i located all the files that you told me to search for.  But you said "you can copy THEM to the root directory of the backup drive", what do you mean? My back up is in my external drive (F drive). How do I copy the file to the root directory? I have no idea where or what that is.

2-  When I clicked on my computer - under other I found a Norton Back up Drive. When I clicked on it - it had a c drive and d drive back up. Did save in both places. I didn't even know that existed since I only told it to save my d drive to my external drive. If I right click and click restore, will it restore my files to my d -drive?
