Norton 360 And Comodo

Is Norton 360 v3.5 compatible with Comodo’s free firewall? Would I have any issues if I used both?

Hi ModdTaco,

Norton 360 already has a firewall. There is no need to install an extra firewall. Also, running two firewalls together can cause conflicts on your computer because they would interfere with each other and actually let more threats through instead of doubling your computer's protection. In fact, Norton products which include a firewall will automatically turn off Windows Firewall. It is therefore strongly recommended that you do not install Comodo firewall.

You can read more on Norton 360 over here:

Also, the comparison chart at the link below will confirm that Norton 360 has got a two-way firewall:

Running two different security products with similar features(Smart Firewall from Norton 360 and Comodo firewall) are not designed to work together on a single computer and can severely affect the performance since their functionalities may interfere each other. This won't let your computer open to more vulnerabilities, but can cause severe performance issuse like slow down of the Internet access.

Symantec does not recommend having multiple firewalls/antivirus/Antispyware installed on the same computer at one time and it will be better if you run only one anti-virus, anti-spyware or firewall program as there is no guarantee for compatibility between different security products. You may encounter unknown problems between the programs. Running only Norton 360 provides the best protection and minimizes conflicts between security programs.

Hi Modd

If you feel the need for another check for malware, you can run malwarebytes free version as an on demand only scan if you suspect you are having a problem and N 360 isn't catching it.
