Norton 360 and Norton Utilities

Hello everyone I'm back again with more question.

This time I'm curious about Norton Utilities.

First, will Norton Utilities work with Norton 360?I know Norton 360 has a few features in it already to help speed up your computer and keep it running good but Norton Utilities has more features for this purpose.I don't want any conflicts between to 2 programs.

Second,I know Norton Utilities comes with a 3 PC user product key.My question however is does it have a year's worth of use that needs to be renew every year or once you install it can it be used indefinitely for as long as you have it?I can not find any information on this matter at the Norton site.It only show that it can be installed on 3 PC's but it does not say anything on weather you have to renew it every year or not.

Third, like I said earlier,I have Norton 360.My question is do I really need Norton Utilities? As I said before Norton 360 does have a few features to help speed up you computer so I don't want to get anything that I really don't need.

Forth and finally, what is Norton Systemworks?I have look all over the Norton site and I can not find any product called Norton Systemworks. Is this a product they use to make and have discontinued or do you have to go to someplace special to find and buy it?

Thanks again you guys;and girls, for your help.

As I know and heard they can work together without errors.

The NU key is like the Ghost one. Once you buy it, you can install it anytime, it will not expire, but it do not contains version upgrades like the AV products. So when a new version comes out, you have to buy that one too.

Well, NU is a really good, and powerful program, but I must say it was developed to the Power Users. It do not clears everything automatically like 360. You have to know a bit more about the system then average users, eg. by registry scan you can select/deselect the keys you want to delete.

So if you think you want an automated program, then 360 is the best for you. If you want a more professional in what you can change every option and check what it deletes/changes/etc. then NU will just perfect for you.

Norton SystemWorks was discontinued last year.

In the late late past NSW was a set of Norton Products: Norton Antivirus, Norton Ghost, and Norton Utilities. Later they changed it a bit, and when NU was discontinued (if I remember well around 2004 maybe) there was only NSW with three versions: Premium, Standard, and Basic. Basic was the previous NU tool, in Standard the extra Antivirus part, and in Premium the extra back-up tools.

Last year Symantec released NU14, and a bit later NSW was discontinued.

I used Norton Utilities a long time ago I think in about 2001.  It was good at what it did back then and I don't believe it required a renewal few.  Today I use System Mechanic and that does require a renewal few.  I also have Norton Security Suite.

Hello ffwfire,

Although this is norton forums a statement you made in you reply has made me to ask you a few questions.

I see you said that you use system mechanic and it does require a renewal every year.

First are you using  system mechanic professional with the anti-virus and the pc tune up software or are you using system mechanic with just the pc tune up software?

Second does both versions of system mechanic have to be renewed every year or just the one with the anti-virus?

I ask because a friend of mine just purchased system mechanic;the one with the pc tune up software only, and i am wondering will he have to renew it after one year to keep it working or is it going to keep working anyway because it does not contain the anti-virus software which always has to be up dated and requires you to keep a subscription for the product to work.

Thanks in advance for your reply.
