Norton 360 and Windows 7 with XP Mode/Virtual PC?

I have a new Dell PC with Windows 7 Pro and in order to run important older professional software I needed to install "XP Mode" with "Windows Virtual PC".  This is started and used only to INSTALL the older software and is closed thereafter.  The older software in question, after installation, is supposedly started and run from the normal Win-7 interface but I haven't actually tried it yet.  Now, upon installing this "Virtual PC with XP Mode" it clearly stated that while running it acts as a totally different computer from within the main Windows 7 operating system and is therefore NOT protected by anti-virus software installed in Win-7.  Although I have a Norton 360 subscription that allows me three PC's I already have another PC and a laptop protected.  My question here is... can I use my installed Norton 360 on this Win-7 PC to also protect this Win-XP virtual machine while it is open and I am using it?  If so how would I do that?  Thank you, DWK
