Yup - I tried several times after. But still hangs.

Its some system file - i do not think i could transfer it to a pen drive.

Tried to check disk...but after typin it in the run box and enter- nothing happens....weird....

Any other suggestions?

Sorry I am not that techy.

it hangs at this file

Windows\Services\Packages\Package_2_for_KB953838~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.0.1.3

i should not delete the file right? or move it to a pen drive?

not sure how it will affect my operating system. =(

I'm not sure what will happen if you move it anywhere else, but maybe you could. I think it's only a backup file for a hotfix.

To make the other thing (chkdsk) ok, run a command prompt (cmd) in administrative mode, and type there chkdsk. It will check the disk in ""safe mode"" (so can't fix anything), and if it's done, and found something, type chkdsk /f, and it should check your disk by the next win start up.

it seems the file - keeps on changing. =(

and it so weird - cmd wont make me run chkdsk - but i am the owner and administrato for my laptop. =(

what do i need to do? thank you for helping me.

Mika,

Not sure if this helps. But definitely, it may come in handy if you haven't tried it yet. Norton 360 released a patch, a while ago,  that fixes most of the performance problems with the service ccSVCHST.exe. See the post from the Admin of this forum to know more information about it.

If you are able to access your UI, please go ahead and click Help & Support > About to find out the product version number. The version number should point to 2.4.0.4. If it does, then try uninstalling the product by downloading the Norton Removal Tool from the following link:

http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

Then reinstall your Norton product to see if it works fine. While, you reinstall the product, the installer will automatically download the latest version from the Internet and then update your product. Make sure that you are connected to the Internet though.

Hope this helps.
