Norton 360 Back Up

Using N360 Backup for the first time.  I have 5 external drives, 2 external backup drives and 4 internal drives.  I did a personally selected backup with N360 which was successful.  However, N360 does not see it.  I tried it first as a default and then using a unique name backup - erasing the first file.  So, N360 says I have NOT completed my backup, although it was highlighted as successful in the security advanced window and showed all folders completed both on the backup drive under my review.

IF I try to do it again, it simply starts over and DOUBLES my files.

It appears N360 does not "SEE' it as completed?  Is there something else that needs to be done in order for N360 backup to recognize the file?

BTW, it does see it in the restore dialog but NOT under the manage dialog.

I am using Windows Vista 64.  This happens on two different computers.  Something new that is happening is if I right click and delete a set, Norton one click support opens and gives me the swap drive error code.  As for the time it takes to back up, one computer has finally completed a full back up set.  The other has been stuck at transferring at 13% for three days now.  It is about 5GB of information to be backed up and I have FIOS so internet speed should not be a problem.  Another thing, one computer will give the swap drive error if both try to transfer back up information at the same time.  Is this normal?

A couple of problems.  I read that you could navigate to My computer in order to access Norton Secure Online Back Up Drive and delete back up sets from there.  When I try this, I see all backup sets, after a long wait to access drive.  I right click the set I want to delete, click delete, get a warning messege, click yes.  Nothing happens, back up remains and this often causes the computer to stop responding.  I have tried this from 2 computers with the same result.  Also, while computer is in the process of backing up, it often spends hours in the transfer status mode.  Could be at 3% forever.

Hi mploc -

Could you copy/paste the swap drive error code(s) into this thread?

Thanks.

Its not giving the code now.  It’s just opening one click support, the step-by-step screen and never gives results.

Hi mploc -

While FIOS has great download speed a lot of times the upload speed can be a lot lower for most home connections (including FIOS).  With 5 GB of data I could easily see this taking hours to complete depending on speed.

Even so this still should not cause a pop-up and so if you are willing we can confirm what the issue is by gathering logs when this occurs.

To gather logs:

1) Visit the site below:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080507162141EN

2) Make one change to the steps listed:
Step 2.6: Check all the advanced options

3) In the end, no files will be sent to Symantec. The file to upload will be located here:

On Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\ErrLogs

On Windows Vista:
C:\programdata\Symantec\ErrorLogs

4) Rename these files to your username and when this is complete post here and I will send you a private message with additional instructions.

Thanks.

Under the location you provided there are no error logs.

Did you download the SymNRA tool from the link and follow the instructions?

I'm just trying to get a sense of where the process failed.

Thanks.

I’m sorry, I now have the error log and am ready for the next step.  By the way, I got error code “8702,536873133” that time.

I’ve sent you a Private Message ( icon on the top right portion of the forums). Please check this when you get a chance.

I've used Norton 360 for a while now with no issues but recently it keeps telling me that i dont have enough storage space and to purchase more.   I've gone through the settings and changed these just to back up my photos which is around 22MB and I have 32MB of storage but I still keep getting the same message that I dont have enough storage.  I have 3 laptops loaded but they have all been set to not back up anything just my main laptop.   Why is this not working?
