Norton 360 Back-ups

I back-up every month alernating the disks so that I have 2 facility too recover from 2 disks though 1 would be less succesful than than the other by virtue that the latest files amended or created would not be saved on the earlier backup.

It seems that when I run a back-up now existing data on a DVD is not deleted & only the most recent ly created or modified files are included in a back-up. I would expect the applin to ask if I wanted the data on the disk deleted.

A second more annoying problem is that my DVD's often fail on back-up. As a result tyhe DVD disk is rendered inaccessible. This happens so frequently that I am seriously considering moving to another application & cancelling Norton 360.

I have had many problems with all back-ups in recent months. Because of other commitments I have not persued them. But a batch of 10 DVD's all rendered unusable is really too much. The cost in materials & time totally unacce3ptable

I too have found Norton 360 Backups problematic.  The most annoying aspect of the interface is the way it "hides" information from a relatively saavy user.  The default assumptions regarding backups and backup sets are not well documented or explained, and the default "online" backup option is "less than useless" for most of us who like to have control over our own data.

I have taken to running "manual" full backups and deleting and re-creating backup set definitions in order to have a complete snapshot backup available with a known backup date.

I fairly recently added a Cisco/Linksys E3000 router to my network.  A 1TB drive attached to the USB port on the router works fine for my two XP Machines using this strategy.  Norton 360, like everything else, pukes when trying to create files from the Vista box.  (The problem lies with Vista and the Cisco/Linksys E3000 file system implementation, not Norton 360 Backup, but it still prevents me from backing up the Vista box to the drive hung on my router.
