Hi Blobcat, could you provide the name and version your VPN client and the make and model of your Router? This might help to find a cause for this issue. Additionally, please be sure you’re running the latest version of Norton 360 v2 (2.4.0.4) and see if this issue continues to appear. Thanks!
I have the same problem. Here is my information:Windows XP SP2,Norton 360 Premier Edition v2.0, Netgear ProSafeVPN Client, SafeNet SoftRemote 10.5.1 (Build 8). When I installed and update Norton 360 v2.0, is disables my VPN connection. It will not even allow connectivity to the "virtual adapter." Even when I completely disable the Firewall, I cannot connect. I have tried ever rule I know how to create with the firewall enabled. I have even added the VPN Network (IPv4) address as a trusted address. I have allowed EVERY one of the executable files for the VPN Client to connect, irrespective of protocol or port. The issue is that completely disabling the Symantec I still cannot connect? If that is the case, then it seems to me that the Symantec software is disabling the adapter. The ONLY way I can get the VPN adpater to work is to completely UNISTALL the software. With older versions of Symantec products (like Norton Internet Securit 200x) I was able to disable the firewall and get VPN connectivity to work. Also, I was able to create rules for all the VPN executable files to "allow" connectivity in BOTH directions. I tried to let one of the Symantec technicians connect to my computer today (remotely), but in about 20 minutes of watching him grope around aimlessly on my computer, I decided that self help was probably more expedient. So, is there anyone out there (in the US or India) who can assist me with this problem? If not, I will go back to using Avast! and Antimalwarebytes. Thanks.
